Program & Content of the class

One and a half year course for higher education

This course is for students who desire to proceed to Japanese university or vocational schools, aiming at teaching and improving Japanese language proficiency for higher education. Students will master skills to improve their Japanese reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. Students are given instruction for the Japanese-language proficiency test and examination for Japanese university admission for International students. The faculty will also assist with checking of application forms for higher education or employment, and give instructions on thesis writing and interview practice.

Primary grade To develop the ability to understand Japanese used in daily life and to express oneself adequately in the proper context
●N4, N3 level (JLPT )
1. Daily conversation 
2. Chinese characters (500 letters) 
3. Basic vocabulary (1000 words) 
4. Primary grammar, sentence patterns
Intermediate grade To develop the ability to understand simple newspaper articles, news and to express ideas logically
● N3, N2 level (JLPT)
1. Composition ability to give and explain opinions
2. Chinese characters (1200 letters) 
3. Intermediate vocabulary (7000 words) 
4. Intermediate grammar, sentence patterns
Advanced grade To prepare for understanding classes at higher education. To develop listening skills to listen to TV and ability to write a thesis
●N2, N1 level (JLPT)
1. Simple speech, presentation, discussion 
2. Chinese characters (2000 letters) 
3. Advanced vocabulary (12000 words) 
4. Advanced grammar, sentence patterns

Year schedule

22 hours a week From Monday through Friday 9:00-14:30 (5 classes) 50 minutes/class

There are many national, public, private universities, junior colleges and professional training colleges in Kumamoto and in the Kyushu area outside Kumamoto. There are more choices if you include other areas in Japan. Our staff will consult with students about their aspirations to higher education and students can also get necessary information in the pc room or on the notice board.
